Shell Chemical gains new CEO
Jeroen van der Veer, President of Royal Dutch Petroleum Company and Vice Chairman of the Committee of Managing Directors of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies, will also become Chief Executive Officer of Shell Chemicals Limited from 1 January 2003. Mr van der Veer assumes responsibilities from Evert Henkes, CEO of Shell Chemicals Ltd since 1997, who retires in April next year after a career of almost 30 years with Shell. During his time as CEO, Evert has led Shell Chemicals through a period of great change that has brought the business to a much stronger competitive position in the top rank of world petrochemical producers. Mr Henkes will remain Chairman of the Board of Basell Polyolefins and Vice-Chairman of the Nanhai JV until his retirement in April 2003.
