Seversky receives ladle furnace

Seversky Tube Works, Polevskoy, Russia, has placed an order with SMS Demag AG, Germany, for the construction of a secondary metallurgy twin-ladle furnace in the Sverdlovsk region. By implementing a slewable ladle furnace, the operating costs of the existing steel melting furnaces will be reduced and the casting quality improved via exact alloying and optimum casting temperatures. The facility is scheduled to begin production in August 2002. The scope of services includes installation, training and commissioning. A ladle furnace facility with stationary hoods; two transfer cars with a built-in tilting device; metering and belt conveyor systems; high-voltage switchgear and compensation equipment; process automation for the installed systems; dust collecting system; cored wire feeder; ladle stirring and laboratory equipment; and a delagging machine will also be supplied.
