Servo-electric punch press gains laser capability

A laser cutting facility has been added to the Finn-Power E all-electric punch press, available in the UK through sole agent, Press & Shear Machinery, Tamworth. The LPE 5 builds on the basic E-series concept; already it is one of the only punching machines to provide a multi-stage bending facility as well as punching, forming, up-forming and tapping. Moreover the absence of hydraulics makes for very fast, accurate operation, ideally suiting the machine to production of complex, high precision components. In addition operating costs are low thanks to ingenious application of regenerative braking technology.
The machine is a 200 kN punch press utilising Finn-Power’s traditional “Oâ€? frame. A 20-station turret is fitted that can be specified with any number of rotary index stations according to customer requirements. Sheet capacity is up to 2530mm by 1270mm. The servo electric ram operates by driving a roller across the surface of a cam form at the top of the ram. By programming the roll’s linear position, ram depression can be very tightly controlled.
