Sandvik Materials Technology in the UK, created earlier this year by the merger of Sandvik Steel UK and RGB Stainless, has published an updated technical manual for stainless steel products.
Previously issued by RGB Stainless, the 300-page, A5 manual is addressed to buyers, specifiers, engineers and designers in the stainless steel industry. This new edition contains the latest metallurgical, specification, standards, size and technical support information for stainless steel tube, pipe, fittings, flanges, box section, sheet, plate, bar and hollow bar. Divided into 11 parts, each with a detailed index, the manual contains sections on stainless steel metallurgy, comprehensive listings and details of relevant UK and US specifications and European standards, and seven different product sections. Each product section contains full ordering, specification and design information. For example, more than 50 pages are devoted to pipes and tubes, including illustrated descriptions of the manufacture of seamless and welded tubes. Specification details include physical and chemical properties, ANSI pipe dimensions and BS pipe sizes, tables for pressure and stress values, bursting and allowable working pressures, metric and imperial dimensions and weights. Similar relevant data is included for all other product types.
The final “General Data” section includes useful conversion tables and a glossary of steelmaking industry terms.
