Sandvik gets umbilicals contract

Sandvik has secured a contract to be the sole provider of stainless steel tubes in the umbilicals for the Leviathan gas field in the Mediterranean Sea, offshore Israel.

The umbilicals for Leviathan will be made from Sandvik SAF 2507™ super-duplex stainless steel tubing and will be used for both injection and hydraulic fluid supply functions. Sandvik will supply customized tubing for the umbilicals by the end of June 2017.

The Leviathan gas field is located in 1,645 meters of water, 125 kilometers (77 miles) west of Haifa. It is situated in the Levantine Basin, a rich hydrocarbon area, and is one of the world’s largest offshore gas finds of the decade.
