The Indian Steel Association (ISA) announced that Alok Sahay has assumed office as its new Secretary-General and Executive Head on 1st October 2021.
Sahay who is the former Executive Director of the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has an experience of almost four decades in the steel industry. He has worked closely with the steel industry and the Government as one of the core industry representatives to advocate on trade-related matters at national and international forums.
Sahay has represented India at the Global Forum on Steel Excess Capacity (GFSEC) held at Paris in 2018. In his previous stint at SAIL, he was instrumental in bringing together the R&D establishments at SAIL, the Defence Ministry and other Government units to ensure critical import substitution of products within defense manufacturing. These efforts led to the successful launching of fully indigenous warships and warranted that India moves towards Aatmanirbharta in steel requirement for the defense sector.
