Republic appoints Asimou to quality assurance post

Republic Technologies International LLC has named John G. Asimou Executive Vice President Operating Technology and Quality Assurance. Asimou will assume the responsibilities of Cliff Miller, who plans to retire as director of quality assurance after more than 38 years of service to Republic. In his new position, Asimou will be responsible for assuring the highest quality in Republic’s wide variety of bar products. He most recently served as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Republic’s cold finished bar operations, and will continue to manage the cold-finished bar plants on an interim basis. Asimou joined Republic in 1998, when the company was formed through the merger of Bar Technologies and Republic Engineered Steels. He has worked in the steel industry for more than 30 years. His experience includes positions at US Steel Corp. and Bethlehem Steel Corp., American Steel & Wire Corp., Birmingham Steel Corp. and Bar Technologies. Miller joined Republic in June 1963. Since then, he worked as Metallurgical Engineer, Canton Plant Metallurgical Manager, Canton Plant Primary Operations General Superintendent and, currently, Corporate Director Quality Assurance.
