Repsol-YPF boosts output in Ecuador

Repsol-YPF will invest USD 136.8 million in Ecuador as part of a plan to increase its output in the Andean nation to 100,000bpd from 19,000bpd. In the first stage, the money will be earmarked for the construction of a secondary 10km oil pipeline, a pumping station, a new generation plant and for the drilling of 18 wells in the Amazon region. A Repsol official has said that the company will be the first to ship 250,000 barrels of heavy crude through a new pipeline that is expected to begin operations in October.
