Antonio Marcegaglia, CEO of the Italy-based Marcegaglia group (Headquarters in Gazoldo degli Ippoliti, Mantova) has been awarded the SMR Stainless Steel Executive of the Year 2010.
A panel of experts from Steel & Metals Market Research, a prestigious consulting company specialized in the specialty steel sector and creator of the prize together with Metal Bulletin, gathered in Rome within the 9th Stainless & Special Steel Summit, awarded the important prize to the entrepreneur at the helm of the Marcegaglia group.
The prize comes at the highest point of a growth path to success in the stainless steel sector. It was the young Antonio Marcegaglia, at the beginning of his career, who created and developed the stainless branch within the group. Marcegaglia is regarded today as one of the world’s top producers of stainless steel tubes.
“Marcegaglia currently manufactures and develops its stainless steel product range (austenitic and ferritic grades, duplex steel and special alloys) in Italy, within three plants, and in Brazil, USA, Russia and China” says Antonio Marcegaglia.
The Gazoldo degli Ippoliti Headquarters hosts the manufacturing lines dedicated to stainless steel cold rolled products, while the Forlì plant is a world-class excellence in the stainless tube sector with a yearly capacity in excess of 250,000 tonnes.
Marcegaglia is the leading industrial group worldwide in the steel processing sector, with a yearly output of 5.3 million tons.
