Utah Point’s first iron ore shipment

Emerging Australian iron ore miner Atlas Iron Ltd has shipped the first ore from the new Utah Point port facility, which was commissioned just recently.  The ore was produced at its two North Pilbara iron ore mines, Wodgina and Pardoo.  The company is now mining at 5 million mt/yr, up from the previous 1.2mt/yr, and is on track to achieve its target of a 6 million mt/yr export rate by Christmas, 2010. The Utah port is at the heart of Atlas’ scheduled increase in production to 12 million mt/ yr by 2012.
