Power station for North Carolina

Dominion has announced preliminary plans to construct and operate a natural gas-fired electric generating station in the Person County Industrial Park, adjacent to The Old Durham Road in Roxboro, North Caroli, USA. If the 1100mw combined-cycle facility is completed, it would represent an investment of USD 600 million in Person County . Under Dominion’s proposal, the company will sell the facility’s generation to the wholesale electricity market. The company plans to build the facility in two phases. The first 550mw would begin commercial operations in June 2005, and the second 550mw would come online in October 2005. The project would use four General Electric Model 7FA generating turbines, fuelled by natural gas. The facility’s combined-cycle configuration would provide additional fuel efficiency through a process that captures steam from the natural gas combustion process and uses it to produce additional electricity.
