Power and modularity in production control

Thermo ARL, a Thermo Electron business has introduced its highest performance process control X-ray spectrometer to date, the ARL 9800 XP+. Truly modular in design and integration, this instrument aims to meet the most rigorous of today’s process- and quality-control standards, while maintaining the necessary flexibility to succeed in the analytical challenges of the 21st century.
In order to meet the diverse analytical requirements of iron, steel, aluminium, copper, cement, glass, refractories, and minerals markets, the new ARL 9800 XP+ integrates fixed channels, universal goniometer(s), and an X-ray diffraction system within the same instrument, allowing both elemental and phase analysis to be carried out at the same time on the same sample. In addition, it benefits from a higher power 4.2 kW generator and associated X-ray tube providing increased sensitivity for all elements across the periodic table.
Up to 32 elements can be determined simultaneously in a matter of seconds using the fixed channels. A new compact design, specific to each element, brings increased sensitivity and lower limits of detection for these exclusive monochromators, resulting in substantially shorter analysis times.
