The EPMA (European Powder Metallurgy Association) has launched its awards for 2003. They will be presented during a special luncheon at the Euro PM 2003 conference taking place in Valencia, Spain, 20-22 October 2003. There will be four main categories of award: components – covering all types of PM products; materials – powders evaluated on the basis of their material properties; production equipment – presses, furnaces, tooling etc; and the International Powder Metallurgy Award (from all categories) – for companies operating outside Europe.
Entries will be judged by a multinational panel of experts who evaluate each submission in terms of: improved quality, likely cost savings, product or material novelty, and the extent to which the development promotes the discipline and encourages increased use of PM materials and technology. Short videos of the prize winners will be shown at the awards luncheon and extensive press coverage will be given to the winners. Entry is free and is open to all EPMA members. The closing date for submissions is 31 May 2003.
