ABB has been awarded an order by Siderca, Argentina, for the supply of an OptimizeIT Modular Mold ElectroMagnetic Stirrer, ModMEMS system for their CC2 continuous caster. ABB OptimizeIT ModMEMS creates efficient stirring of the strand and increases the casting speed in combination with low energy consumption The absence of any cooling systems, easy maintenance and low repair cost are other important features. Furthermore, the installation and commissioning times are short, thanks to the modular design concept. The equipment will be delivered in January 2003.
