Pipes for Australian gas field

At the end of last year, BUTTING won an order to supply BuBi®-pipes to the Perseus over Goodwyn Project off the coast of Western Australia. This will be realised by the Australian Woodside Energy Ltd on behalf of the North West Shelf Venture (NWSV) group. BUTTING will supply more than 29,000 metres of mechanically bonded BuBi®-pipes measuring 406.4 x 21.0 + 3.0mm and 273.0 x 15.9 + 3.0mm in the material combination DNV 450 I / alloy 316L. The order also includes 744 metres of metallurgically clad pipes measuring 406.4 x 21.0 + 3.0mm in the same material combination and a total of 660 metres of duplex pipes measuring 273.0 x 18.3mm and 406.4 x 26.2mm. The project, located in the Dampier Basin about 125km off the coast of Western Australia, contains a total of 16 gas fields. A large number of oil and gas fields were discovered in deep waters and exploited in the mid-eighties, including the three largest fields, the North Rankin, Goodwyn and Perseus. Between them, they contain more than 22 trillion cubic feet of producible gas (628 billion cubic metres), enough to supply Australia’s gas needs for 35 years. Together with the 54,000 metres of pipes supplied to the Tweedsmuir project, BUTTING will have supplied more than 420,000 metres of BuBi®-pipes from 1994 until the end of 2005.
