Petrobras appoints interim CEO

Brazil’s oil & gas company Petrobras said its board has appointed Ivan de Souza Monteiro as the company’s interim CEO.

The company’s Board of Directors held an extraordinary meeting recently at which they decided Monteiro will be the CEO until March 26, 2019, like the rest of the Board. He will also remain in his position of CFO until a new chief executive is appointed.

Monteiro had been occupying the position as an interim CEO since his predecessor, Pedro Parente, resigned following a nationwide truckers’ strike and a Petrobras workers’ strike which listed his resignation as one of the main goals.

Monteiro is a graduate in Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications, with an Executive MBA in finance from IBMEC-RJ and, in management, from PUC-Rio. At Banco do Brasil, he was Vice President of Financial Management and Investor Relations.
