Outokumpu’s acquisition cleared

Outokumpu Technology has finalised the acquisition of the world-wide metallurgical business of Lurgi AG from the German mg technologies AG. Outokumpu announced the agreement on 4 July 2001 and now the acquisition has been approved by all the appropriate national regulatory agencies. The purchase price is some EUR 52 million.
Following the Lurgi Metallurgie acquisition, Outokumpu Technology will employ more than 1700 people in 16 countries and the special competence areas of Outokumpu’s technology business will be within mineral processing, pyrometallurgy, hydrometallurgy, ferrous metallurgy, aluminum and sulphuric acid production, as well as customer service.
