Outokumpu receives Responsible Chromium award

Outokumpu has received the Responsible Chromium award from the International Chromium Development Association (ICDA). The award was given to six ICDA member companies with a verified rating from the independent sustainability rating company Ecovadis.

Outokumpu has been evaluated by Ecovadis to be within the top 1% of companies in the industry in terms of sustainability. For this, Outokumpu has received the highest Platinum level recognition.

“We are proud to receive this recognition for our strong performance in sustainability. This strengthens our position as the sustainability leader within the industry. For example, our ferrochrome raw material has a very low carbon footprint – only 42% of the industry average,” says Martti Sassi, President – BA Ferrochrome at Outokumpu.

Outokumpu’s own chromium mine in Kemi, Finland and low carbon footprint ferrochrome production support Outokumpu’s position as the industry leader in sustainability.
