Outokumpu operations in Degerfors and Nyby

In Sweden, a dispatch hall has been inaugurated in Degerfors and on 5 October a grinding machine and a new entry section to the annealing and pickling line has been inaugurated in Nyby, Torshälla. The investments, totalling EUR 65 million, are based on Outokumpu’s strategy to increase sales of special grades and to increase sales to end-users. The dispatch hall at Outokumpu in Degerfors is a fully automized storage with integrated packaging and dispatch. The trains and trucks that shall ship the stainless steel forward are being loaded inside the hall. The surface of the hall is 7500sq/m and it can store 4500tns. The new operation increases the possibilities to give good customer service and delivery performance. The new grinding machine with an automized intermediate storage and the entry section to the annealing and pickling line in Nyby, increases the production capacity for special grades from 34,000tns to over 70,000tns/yr.
