Orissa approves four projects

The Orissa government’s Single Window Clearance Authority (SWCA) has cleared four projects. The first project, by Ashapura Minechem Ltd, the flagship company of Gujarat-based Ashapura Group, is will be a beach sand complex project near Puri. The INR 910 crore mineral separation plant will separate minerals from beach sand and will produce titanium dioxide. Meanwhile, Jaiswal Nicco Industries’ proposal for setting up a 1.2 million tonne iron ore beneficiation and pelletisation plant at Harmote near Barbil in the Keonjhar district has also been cleared by the SWCA. Jaiswal Nicco plans to invest INR 452 crore. Furthermore, the SWCA has cleared the proposal of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd to enhance the capacity of its steel project from 2 million tonne to 6 million tonne. The steel production of the plant will be 3 million tonne through sponge iron route and another 3 million tonne through blast furnace route. Jindal has also proposed to increase the capacity of its thermal power plant from 900MW to 1080MW. The expansion will increase investment from INR 13,135 crore to INR 22,440 crore.
