Nuvera to develop transportation-based fuel cells

The US Department of Energy will award Nuvera Fuel Cells, Inc., approximately USD 17 million over the next 3 years in cost-shared programs to fund new research and development of advanced transportation-based fuel cell systems. The multiple awards will primarily focus on overcoming technical barriers to introducing fuel cells to the public. These barriers include high component costs, size, weight, start-up time, power density, and system efficiency. All the programs will be cost-shared with Nuvera incurring approximately 20 to 35 percent of the total cost of each project, and all award amounts are subject to final contract negotiation with the DOE.
