Nuovinox used in Alberta bridge

Stelax Industries Ltd has received a contract for a second project to use Nuovinox™ in Alberta, Canada. The project is for the Highway 986 bridge over a watercourse, east of Buffalo and is part of Alberta Transportation’s 2002 Peace Region Bridge Rehabilitation Program. The Nuovinox™ rebar will be used in conjunction with existing carbon rebar and replace corroded carbon rebar in the deck and parapet rehabilitation project.
The first Alberta Transportation project to use Nuovinox™, the Sturgeon River Bridge, won the “Award of Excellence – Transportation Infrastructure” from the Consulting Engineers of Alberta. UMA Engineering was honoured for their work on the project which attained Alberta Transportation’s goal to construct a new bridge over the Sturgeon River that would have a 100-year service life. Approximately 54,000 pounds of stainless steel clad Nuovinox™ rebar was used on the project.
