NSSC develops second FW series stainless

Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Steel Corporation (NSSC) has newly developed and commercialized NSSC® FW2, a highly corrosion-resistant, low-interstitial ferritic stainless steel. This development is based on technology originally developed by NSSC that significantly enhances the corrosion resistance of ferritic stainless steel by adding a micro amount of tin. FW2 is produced by adding 0.3% of tin to the base steel with 16% chromium content and no nickel. The content of rare metals in its production was also reduced by 40% compared to the most common grade of the product, SUS304.
