Northland supplies iron ore to Tata

Northland Resources SA concluded a long term off take agreement with Tata Steel UK Ltd for 6 million mt of iron ore concentrate. The ore will be taken from the Kaunisvaara iron ore mine in northern Sweden and shipped to Tata Steel’s facilities in Europe, following final technical approval. The contract is set for seven years with production scheduled for 2012 and the companies have agreed to close technical cooperation in order to increase product quality. Northland will produce 5 million mt of iron ore concentrate per year once Kaunisvaara reaches full capacity in 2014. This is Northland’s second off take agreement. Their first contract, with steel trader Stemcor, was for the delivery of one million mt of Kaunisvaara concentrate per year.
