NobelClad, an explosion welding company, recently announced that Dr. Edgar E. Vidal has been named global director of business development and marketing.
Dr. Vidal is responsible for the expansion of NobelClad’s clad-plate applications, particularly in the extractive metals, oil and gas and defense industries, where he has extensive experience. He will also lead NobelClad’s international market development team.
Dr. Vidal joins NobelClad from Materion Corporation, where he most recently served as director of sales for beryllium and composites, as well as head of marketing and business development for the Performance Alloys and Composites division. During his time at Materion, he commercialized multiple new product lines and supported the growth of the business into new geographies. He also expanded Materion’s intellectual property portfolio and was responsible for securing three granted patents.
Dr. Vidal holds a doctorate in mining engineering, metallurgy, and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in materials engineering. He is well versed in the markets and end users served by NobelClad. He gained his knowledge of clad metals while serving as a professor at Colorado School of Mines, where he worked with NobelClad on a research program that examined the thermodynamics of the secondary phases produced during the explosion welding of titanium to carbon steel.
