New yardsticks for welding technology

A remarkable wave of innovation currently characterises the development and the future of welding – as seen at the industry’s fair in Essen, with laser-hybrid welding and the digitalisation that is made possible by new technology. In both of these key areas, developments and solutions from Fronius are playing a significant role. Its LaserHybrid system is the first integrated, fully industry-standard solution to successfully combine laser and arc welding. Both the solid-state laser and the MIG power source are essentially standard appliances. Fronius developed the welding head and the process in collaboration with a leading German automobile manufacturer. The process is designed to meet highly diverse requirements made of industrial production tools. Welded joints are now possible which unite the benefits of each of the processes – such as better gap bridgeability, high welding speeds, superb seam quality and high productivity.
