New stainless guide for architects

A new guide, titled “Which Stainless Steel Should Be Specified for Exterior Applications?”, provides a points system for evaluating the corrosiveness of an exterior site and for selecting the most cost-effective stainless steel. Case studies are being developed to supplement this document. Each illustrates appropriate stainless steel selection in a corrosive setting such as exposure to pollution, coastal salt or deicing salt. All feature common architectural applications. The first three case studies are available now. Two of them deal with deicing salt exposure and one with a coastal environment. Additional case studies will be released at three-month intervals. Electronic and hard copies of the document can be obtained from the International Molybdenum Association (IMOA).
