New stainless grades at Tube 2008

Sandvik will be showing examples of its comprehensive range of tubular and bar products at Tube 2008 (31 March – 4 April 2008, Dusseldorf, Germany). Sandvik will be presenting two new grades, Sandvik SAF 2707 HD® and Sandvik Sanicro® 25. Sandvik SAF 2707 HD is a hyper-duplex stainless steel, specially developed for service in highly corrosive conditions, such as seawater cooled heat exchangers. It is particularly suited to aggressive, chloride-containing environments and displays excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, stress corrosion cracking and general corrosion. At the same time, it has high mechanical strength and good weldability. Particularly aimed at the chemical, petrochemical and refinery industries, Sandvik SAF 2707 HD has been developed to meet higher industry demands on performance whilst maintaining the reliability and safety of equipment. Also being shown for the first time is Sandvik Sanicro® 25 for use in advanced ultrasupercritical coal-fired steam boilers, destined for the next generation of power stations. Specially designed for reheater and superheater tubes, Sandvik Sanicro 25 is a creep resistant austenitic material that allows for material temperatures up to 700C, helping to boost efficiency. The increased steam temperature contributes to higher efficiency, lower carbon dioxide emissions and reduced fuel consumption.
