New grade for titanium finishing

Sandvik Coromant has released the GC1115, a new grade designed for finishing to medium machining in stainless steel and medium to roughing in heat resistant super alloys and titanium. GC1115 combines the toughness and heat resistance of fine grain cemented carbide with the wear resistance of a unique PVD coating, making it a suitable choice for predictable production systems where unstable conditions are likely to occur. The PVD coating also allows the grade to maintain sharp edges over a longer time in cut, while optimized micro-geometries ensure precision at low cutting forces. It is available in a selection of positive and negative basic-shape inserts, as well as the full -M, -G and -E tolerance range for different insert edge sharpness.
