New coloured stainless steel

Acerinox Europa has recently manufactured coloured stainless steel, which has been used to good effect on the Espacio León shopping mall in León, Spain. This complex perfectly combines a mixture of materials such as artificial stone, render, facing brick, glass and stainless steel and was delivered by Acerinox UK. Its design has been developed by L35 Architects coordinating two of the singularities of stainless steel: depth and colour.

A particular appeal of coloured stainless steel is that its appearance can vary from different angles and illumination conditions, under natural lighting or artificial light. At the Espacio León the outside of the façade is assembled in layers in the traditional slate roofing construction method. The texture and electrochemical colours of stainless steel developed by Rimex Metals shows in dark red the deepest parts of the material similar to wine colour, while the brightest outer parts maintain the unique stainless steel shine.
