Mitsubishi to modernise gas plant

Mitsubishi and Sumatec Corporation Sdn. Bhd. of Malaysia will modernise a gas processing plant and a liquefied petroleum gas export terminal in Malaysia for Petronas Gas Berhad, a subsidiary of the Malaysian national oil company. The project is worth approximately JPY 8 billion, and is scheduled for completion in January 2005. The facility, located in the state of Trengganu on the country’s east coast, refines 250 million cubic meters of gas per day. The two companies will also modernise a nearby facility that ships liquefied petroleum gas. Mitsubishi Heavy also intends to win contracts to modernise five other gas refinery plants run by Petronas.
