Samuel Leupold, executive vice president for DONG Energy Wind Power, said: “The performance of the 8MW turbine from MHI Vestas Offshore Wind is decisive for us selecting it as the preferred turbine for the Borkum Riffgrund 2 development project.” DONG Energy expects to sign an agreement with MHI Vestas Offshore Wind later this year; however, it is conditional upon DONG Energy making final investment decision on the Borkum Riffgrund 2 project.

The Borkum Riffgrund 2 Offshore Wind is located next to the 312MW Borkum Riffgrund 1 Offshore Wind Farm where DONG Energy has just installed the seventy-eighth and final wind turbine and expects to enter full commercial operation later this year.
