Low cost duplex hollow sections

Stalatube Oy has the capability to manufacture square and rectangular hollow sections in a new grade called ’Lean duplex’. Thanks to a long term
relationship with stainless steel mill Outokumpu Stainless, Stalatube initiated trials with the new LDX 2101grade as a material for rectangular
and square hollow sections. Thanks to the positive result of these trials the material can now be offered to the market place and endusers as an alternative to traditional material in many applications. The advantages of duplex grades LDX 2101 at both the design stage and during service life are good corrosion resistance, high mechanical properties and
good weldability. Further advantages compared to austenitics are better corrosion resistance; reduced susceptibility to stress corrosion cracking (SCC); higher mechanical strength in the annealed state and a lower nickel
content, which significantly reduces the alloy surcharge resulting in a lower and more stable price. The price level of Lean duplex is less than that of 316 material and can often be comparable to 304 depending the level of alloy surcharges.
Stalatube Oy is known worldwide as a manufacturer of welded stainless steel
rectangular and square hollow sections. The main materials used areaustenitic basics EN 1.4301 (AISI 304), EN 1.4571 (AISI316Ti) and EN 1.4404
(AISI 316L). For specific projects, super austenitic and duplex grades are
also produced.
