In response to customer demand for a lightweight coupling with high fatigue life and strength, Huco Engineering Components has added a titanium Multi-Beam coupling to its range. Now available in standard sizes and to special order, the Multi-Beam Ti helical beam coupling aims to combine a compact, one-piece construction and zero backlash with exceptional strength. The product is aimed for applications in the aerospace, instrumentation and medical equipment sectors. Its manufacture from titanium gives Multi-Beam Ti the advantage of low weight, similar to aluminium, yet a fatigue performance better than that of stainless steel. Although marginally more expensive than its stainless-steel counterpart, it provides a solution for particularly demanding applications. Manufacturers can now choose a standard coupling rather than resort to in-house or subcontract manufacture of a special. In common with others in the Huco Multi-Beam range, the Ti models may be specified with either clamp or set-screw fixings for quick and easy connection to – or removal from – shafts. They are manufactured to ISO9001:2000 quality standards at the company’s factory in Hertford, UK.
