Largest polyester complex in the Middle East

Saudi Egyptian Petrochemical Company (Cairo, Egypt) is constructing a USD 550 million polyester complex in El-Ameriya, Alexandria, Egypt. Lurgi Zimmer (Frankfurt, Germany) is building the 300,000 ton per year complex that is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2003. The complex will consist of a 150,000 ton per year partially oriented yarn (POY) and textile chips unit, a 50,000 ton per year staple fibres unit, and a 100,000 ton per year polyester resins unit. This complex will be the largest polyester complex in the Middle East region. Saudi Egyptian Petrochemical is a venture company of Saudi-based Jehan Group, the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation and Al-Mauwakaba for Industrial Development & Overseas Commerce (Midroc).
