ISO 14001 for Iscor

Iscor Ltd (South Africa) has announced that its Vereeniging steel mill attained ISO 14001 certification from the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) for its environmental management systems. To achieve the ISO 14001 certification, the Vereeniging mill conducted an Environmental Baseline Study (EBS) with the assistance of an accredited environmental consulting firm. The results are used to plan for future improvements in environmental management and rehabilitation in consultation with the relevant regulatory authorities. Employees at the Vereeniging mill also underwent intensive environmental awareness training to ensure the successful implementation of the EBS plan.
