Hunan Mana Materials announced a high performance duplex stainless steel. Duplex Stainless Steel (DSS) is a multi-phase structure metal material composed of ferrite (α) and austenite (γ) in considerable volume fractions. It combines the advantages of ferritic stainless steel and austenitic stainless steel, with excellent corrosion resistance, high strength and good plasticity.
For a long time, duplex stainless steel has been widely used in petrochemical, marine engineering and construction industry as an important engineering structural material.
Mana R&D engineers have carried out the alloying computer-aided design based on the composition characteristics of 2205, 2507 and other duplex stainless steels, analyzed the influence of various raw materials on the composition in detail, and determined the optimal material ratio. In addition, this kind of duplex stainless steel has high N content and narrow composition range. How to accurately and stably control the N content in the alloy is also a technical difficulty.
“The N content of various duplex stainless steels in all heats is controlled within the target range, and the N content of most heats 2205 can be stably controlled at 0.15~0.20 %, the N of 2507 can be stably controlled between 0.25~0.30%, and the N of 2707 can be stably controlled between 0.41~0.47%” said project manager of Hunan Mana Materials.
