Heat exchanger from Omniaplant

Omniaplant SRL (Caravaggio, Bergamo, Italy) has produced a “double-pipeâ€? heat exchanger for grape must (dimensions 7100 x 1200 x h 2200 mm), whose purpose is to lower the temperature of the product from + 27/28 °C to + 5/6 °C, using glycols at a temperature of 0.5 °C. The exchange can process 300 quintals of must per hour and consists of 16 concentric welded pipe sections made up of a corrugated internal pipe (101 x 2 mm) and an external pipe (139 x 2 mm), plus 15 bends (101 x 2 mm) with a 180° radius of 525 mm. All the process piping is of EN 1.4301 (AISI 304) stainless steel, including the flanges, the fittings, the pressure gauges, the probe sinks, and the ball valves. The insulation of the tube bundle (139 mm in diameter) was made with a cap of high-density polystyrene and external shell of EN 1.4301 (AISI 304) stainless steel, 2B finish. The framework of the support structure is also made of stainless steel. All the welds were made in TIG. (Source: “Inossidabile”, No. 145).
