Global Industries awarded Mexican pipeline project

Global will use the 400-foot long pipelay/derrick barge “Shawnee” to support pipeline construction and diving services on both projects, located off the coast of Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche, Mexico. In the first contract scheduled this month, Global will use the “Shawnee” to repair 330 feet (100 meters) of a 36-inch diameter oil pipeline at three crossing locations in the Cantarell field. Saturation and surface gas/air diving will be used to support the operation to water depths of up to 155 feet (47 meters). In the second contract scheduled this month, the “Shawnee” will mobilise to Mexico’s KU-MALOOB-ZAAP field with the derrick barge “Sara Maria” for installation of two 24-inch gas pipelines and topside construction on three platforms, respectively.
