Gas-fired plant for Michigan

DTE Energy Services, a subsidiary of DTE Energy Co., has begun construction of a 320mw natural gas-fired power plant in East China Township, Michigan. The plant, which will serve wholesale electricity markets in Michigan and the Midwest, will begin commercial operation in the early summer of 2002. The East China plant will be powered by four 80mw high-efficiency natural gas-fired combustion turbines (General Electric model 7-EA), operating in simple-cycle mode. Washington Group International will provide engineering, procurement, construction and start-up services for the plant. Power from the facility will begin to flow next summer.
