Foster Wheeler wins Russian contract

Foster Wheeler Corporation has announced that its French subsidiary, Foster Wheeler France, has won a contract by the Nizhnekamsk Refinery JSC to serve as project management consultant for Phase A, the first phase of a 10-year deep conversion complex (modernisation project) at the refinery. The contract is valued at approximately USD 7 million. The Nizhnekamsk Refinery is located near the city of Nizhnekamsk in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation. Giorgio Veronesi, president and CEO of Foster Wheeler France, said that this is one of the first project management consultant contracts ever signed in Russia in this field. In addition, it is one of the largest refinery project investments made in the Russian Federation in the past decade. Under the contract, Paris-based Foster Wheeler France’s scope of services includes assisting refinery officials in selecting licensors, preparing bidding documents, helping with the selection of engineering/procurement/construction contractors and supervision of the USD 500 million modernisation project. Work on the project began in March 2001. When completed by late 2005, the refinery will have the capacity to process Tatarstan’s heavy, high-sulphur crude and to produce environmentally friendly products as well as feedstock for an adjacent petrochemical complex.
