Foster Wheeler to revamp Turkmen refinery

Foster Wheeler Ltd has announced that its subsidiary Foster Wheeler Italiana SpA has been awarded a basic and front end engineering design (FEED) contract by the Russian developer Emerol Ltd for the revamp of a delayed coker unit at its refinery in Turkmenbashi, Turkmenistan. The total value of the project is approximately USD 43 million and the FEED is expected to be completed by early 2003. The contract calls for modernisation and debottlenecking of the present delayed coker unit, which is of Russian design. The revamp of this conversion unit will include Foster Wheeler’s proprietary delayed coking technology. The Turkmenbashi refinery is the largest of two in Turkmenistan and is currently undergoing a major modernisation.
