Stainless start-up in Shanghai

Thyssen Krupp and Baosteel have completed phase 1 of a joint venture project, a 72,000 ton/year cold-rolling plant in the south of the Shanghai district of Pudong. This important step in the completion of the total stainless steel cold-rolling line was finished one year earlier than originally scheduled. ABB has full responsibility for the supply of electrification, automation and information systems for the grinding line, skin pass mill, cold reduction mill (20 roll mill), cut-to-length line, bright annealing line and slitting line. The delivery took place in November 2001, two months ahead of schedule.
