Fluor announces new appointment

Fluor Corporation announced that J. Michael Gallagher has joined the company’s Mining and Minerals unit as senior vice president of Operations in the Americas. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Gallagher also will lead an initiative to expand Fluor’s market share in materials handling systems by leveraging developed technology and enhanced delivery capability. “Mike is a great addition to our management team,” said Jeff Gard, Fluor’s president of Mining and Minerals. “He has jumped into his new operations role and is already working closely with our staff in both North and South America.” With more than 25 years in the engineering and construction industry, Gallagher has held a variety of executive positions with global engineering, procurement and construction contractors. Gallagher earned a doctorate degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford University and is a graduate of Wabash College in Indiana.
