EU may renew taxes on stainless

The European Union is considering renewing tariffs on stainless steel screws and bolts from China and Taiwan in an attempt to curb competition from EU manufacturers. The EU began a review of whether to re impose the import duties for five years, letting comparable levies against Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia expire. The review will determine whether or not the expiry of the duties against China and Taiwan would lead to a recurrence of dumping and continuation of injury. The probe may take up to 15 months. The EU imposed separate anti dumping duties of up to 85% on iron or steel fasteners from China in 2009.
