Arak Petrochemical Company has awarded Technip with the contract for the expansion of the Olefins Plant at Arak, Iran. The ethylene production capacity – from naphtha and kerosene and based on Technip’s in-house technology – will be increased from 247,000 to 306,000 mt/year. The lump-sum contract, for an amount exceeding EUR 43 million, includes engineering, procurement and supply of equipment and materials. These services will be performed by the engineering centre of Technip in Rome and by Technip’s centre in The Hague concerning the design of the furnaces. Nargan, Technip’s Iranian engineering partner, will perform part of engineering and local supplies. Completion of delivery is scheduled at 21 months from contract effective date. This project follows two recent contract awards to Technip in Iran, namely for an ethylene cracker for PARS Petrochemical Company and an ethylene plant for JAM Petrochemical Company at Assaluyeh.
