Duplex in wastewater treatment

Northwestern Spain will be home to a new wastewater treatment plant. Built by Cadagua SA, the plant is the first ever in Spain to have hardware made out of duplex stainless steel. Between the time of initial planning and when Cadagua took over the project engineering in 2006, the price of 1.4404 had skyrocketed due to high nickel prices. To find an alternative, Cadagua approached Outokumpu. Outokumpu was awarded the contract to supply approximately 360tns of Duplex 2304 sheet and plate to the wastewater treatment project. The capacity of the E.D.A.R. de Bens water utility company owned treatment plant will be 6757 liters per second. Completion date is planned for 2008.
