Dow, GM in fuel cell pact

Dow Chemical and General Motors are to test GM’s fuel cell technology at Dow’s plant at Freeport, TX, from 2003 to 2005. If the tests are successful, 500 fuel cells will generate up to 35MW of electricity. The hydrogen used by the fuel cells will be a by-product of Dow’s operations. The company sees fuel cells as an alternative to natural gas.
