DNV GL class A type certificate for Gamesa turbine

Gamesa, a global technology leader in wind energy, achieved a new product strategy milestone by having its G97-2.0MW turbine, equipped with an infused glass fibre blade, obtain the first class A type certificate issued by independent certification body DNV GL under its GL2010 guideline.

The GL2010 guideline is based on highest quality and safety standards in the wind-turbine design field. The award of the first DNV GL class A type certificate under this guideline to one of Gamesa’s products evidences the company’s commitment to technological excellence. This official seal marks the culmination of the process of certifying the first Gamesa turbine fitted with an infused glass fibre blade.

The G97-2.0MW turbine with an infused blade has obtained type certification and is already being sold in the Indian market. This turbine is part of Gamesa’s 2.0-2.5MW platform. Over 17,400MW of the company’s turbines in this segment have been installed worldwide, while average fleet availability topped 98% in 2013.
