Czech Republic: natural gas power plant

Czech-based power company CEZ AS, as part of its plans to diversify into natural-gas fired power production, will build an 800MW gas-fired plant in Melnik, a town about 25km north of Prague. The new plant will replace an existing 720MW current lignite-fired power plant at the site. The site generates power for the capital city as well as central Bohemia. This will be the company’s first major Czech natural-gas fired plant, and will be put into operation in 2015.
